HISTORY
Our church has been on 21st and Schuyler in the North End of Lafayette since 1923. Throughout the years and various building projects and name changes, as a Wesleyan church, we have consistently pursued God for more. Through His grace, we believe that God offers more to us in a moment than we often expect and more for us in a lifetime than most pursue.
In 2018, we started a new chapter of ministry with a renewed focus on missional ministry and even a new name to demarcate our new identity—The Branch Wesleyan Church (formerly Schuyler Avenue Wesleyan Church). Our entire ministry model is derived from Jesus’ saying in John 15:5, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
MISSION
We exist to produce fully devoted followers of Christ. We pursue this in three-fold fashion: (1) by helping people connect to the Vine, (2) learn to remain in Christ, and (3) produce much fruit.
COMMITMENTS
We know that mission has to be more than words on a paper, so we are actively shaping our church culture in light of our vision through commitments to:
// Mobilizing Discipleship- because we believe that true spiritual growth demands action.
// Generational Investment- because our students are world changers, now.
// Radical Hospitality- because we value people as Christ valued people.
// Contagious Generosity- because God gave us so much, we cheerfully bring our first and best.
// Creative Outreach- because a bold mission requires relentless innovation.
// Intentional Community- because true transformation occurs in real relationships.
// Authentic Worship- because our whole life is a response to the goodness of God, not just Sunday mornings.
